Un gioiello incastonato nel centro storico di Barletta.
La chiesa di Sant’Andrea, che affonda le sue radici nel medioevo, rappresenta un luogo di culto scrigno di preziosi ed antichi saperi.
Opere d’arte di particolare valore storico artistico e di fede, ognuna con una sua storia, un suo racconto, suggestivo e originale.
Un tempio sacro, prezioso sin dal suo ingresso da quel suo antico mastodontico portale che richiama alla origini della chiesa stessa.
Dopo il minuzioso e accurato lavoro di restauro la chiesa è pronta per essere visitata in tutto il suo splendore.
A invitare a farlo è il parroco Don Francesco Fruscio che si rivolge tanto ai turisti che fanno tappa a barletta e che non dovrebbero perdere questa occasione, ma anche agli stessi cittadini di barletta chiamati a riscoprire storie e leggende legate allo straordinario patrimonio artistico e culturale di cui molte parrocchie del centro cittadino sono ricche.
Con un primo nucleo risalente al XII secolo, quando la chiesetta era dedicata al Santissimo Salvatore, la chiesa vera e propria fu costruita dai Della Marra a cui appartenne fino al 1532, anno in cui fu ceduta ai frati Minori Osservanti, che ne ampliarono e modificarono l’aspetto, grazie alle ingenti donazioni di quegli anni, dandone quello tipico delle chiese mendicanti, e il nome, dedicandola a Sant’Andrea.
Tutto il centro storico di Barletta merita una visita, e Sant’Andrea può essere una tappa suggestiva di questo percorso.

The priest Don Francesco Fruscio encouraged everyone to visit it, from the tourists who shouldn’t miss this opportunity to the inhabitants of Barletta, in order to rediscover stories and legends related to the extraordinary historical and cultural heritage of which many parishes in the city center are rich.
The church which firstly worshipped the Holy Saviour, dates back to the XII century when it was built by Della Marra, who owned it until 1532. It was then owned by the Order of the Observant Friars Minor who, thanks to the many donations received in those years, expanded and modified the structure giving it the typical appearance of mendicant churches. Moreover the name was changed and it was dedicated to Saint Andrew.
The whole historical centre of Barletta is worth a visit, and Saint Andew’s church may represent an evocative stage of this journey.
